Interesting initiatives in the Social Media

The social media are showing all their potential as information multipliers in these months. They have been particularly useful to share information and mobilize stakeholders, but they have also been used to spread fake news and other malware. Several actors engaged in cross-border cooperation and border issues are making the most out of them to disseminate relevant information on how borders are facing the crisis.

• Cultural Border Studies: is a public group in Facebook focussed on bringing together issues related to border studies oriented to culture. It has 2,715 members by 15 April 2020.
• Euregion Spree-Neiße-Bober (SNB) publishes almost daily in Facebook their Neuigkeiten aus der Euroregion / Aktualności z euroregionu in German and Polish.
• In Twitter, Interact Programme’s second edition of their #ThisIsEurope #Interreg podcast series explores how Interreg connects neighbours through tramways, smart villages and more… #Interreg30 #EUinmyRegion
• Kai Böhme and Flavio Besana, from Spatial Foresight, have shared in Twitter, the SF Brief 2020:13 they have drafted, Understanding the territorially diverse implications of Covid-19 policy responses, focusing on the territorial dimension of Covid-19’s health and policy responses. They propose how to assess “territorial sensitivity and exposure to Covid-19 policy responses in Europe, and what does territorial diversity look like”. They also explain further planned steps. It includes two interesting maps with preliminary assessments of potential territorial impacts of Covid-19 policy responses by NUTS 2 regions.
• The University of the Greater Region has reacted to the current closure of borders asking to document this situation with photos in times of Covid-19. You can send your photos to the Border Gallery per email (borderstudies@uni.lu).
