Celebrating 900 IVY Volunteers deployed in Interreg

Since its launch in 2017, the Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) initiative has now reached 900 young volunteers deployed in programmes and projects of Territorial Cooperation.

This achievement reflects the dedication and impact of the young volunteers who have contributed to the success of Territorial Cooperation projects across Europe. Managed by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) on behalf of the European Commission’s DG Regio, IVY continues to be a vital force in promoting cooperation across borders and regional development.

By empowering young people in Interreg programmes and projects, IVY has not only brought fresh energy and innovative ideas into Interreg, but also fostered a deeper sense of European solidarity.

The success of IVY is a testimony to the solid cooperation between AEBR and the European Commission’s DG Regio. AEBR’s experience in managing cross-border cooperation, combined with the European Commission’s commitment to promoting regional development and youth engagement, has been instrumental in the creation of a thriving volunteer programme.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also acknowledge the transformative impact of these volunteers on Europe’s regions and look forward to many more years of successful collaboration and community building. In the spirit of unity and cooperation, the IVY initiative continues to be a testament to what can be achieved when young people, regional stakeholders, and European institutions come together to bridge borders and build a better future for all.
